Leaders of substance. They shape the lives around them for the better. Some are talented enough to make a positive difference to whole industries and communities. We honour them.
I was delighted to join Retirement Living Council President Tony Randello, members of the RLC Board and almost 600 delegates at our biggest ever Retirement Living Summit on the Gold Coast last week.
The team put on a terrific program, of which the high point is always the people. And none more so than retirement and banking luminary, Jim Hazel.
Through his unique and prescient perspective on ageing, Jim has made an outstanding contribution to not only Australia’s retirement industry, but to the property sector as a whole.
In the words of RLC Executive Director Daniel Gannon, “Jim has always shown passion and respect for customers in our industry and has given countless hours in driving legislative outcomes with balance for developers, investors, operators and residents”.
It is a pleasure to see Jim recognised as an Honorary Life Member of the Retirement Living Council.
On the same night, in much cooler Melbourne, we honoured a rolled gold star of our organisation, my dear friend Jennifer Cunich.
At our fantastic Victorian People in Property Awards Jennifer received the Legacy Award for the powerful role she continues to play in the property industry, including 14 successful years as the Executive Director for the Victorian division, hat tip Victorian Division President Anne Jolic and Executive Director Cath Evans.
Jennifer’s dedication to advancing our industry’s capacity to grow jobs, provide opportunities and house Victorians, has lifted both our members and the communities we serve. Jennifer, you are a tremendous personal example to me and many others.
Jim and Jennifer, thank you for your ongoing leadership. We salute you.
