After many great years the Property Council is leaving 11 Barrack Street Sydney

Last week the Property Council team in Sydney spent our last full working day in 11 Barrack Street.

Those of you who have been there know it is a beautiful building with a storied history and real personality.

After relocating from Australia Square in the noughties, I remember freshly appreciating a heritage-listed building whose foundations date all the way back to 1849.

We have made some shining memories during this substantial chapter of the Property Council’s 54 years, spanning the leadership of Peter Verwer and Ken Morrison both. Our teams and alumni have made many wonderful memories traversing those creaky floorboards.

We will fondly remember the glorious stained-glass windows, the grand central staircase and perhaps most of all, the level three ‘Loft’ and its open sky on a balmy evening.

And yet the future beckons. We are moving to Level 7, 50 Carrington Street, Sydney on 1 May.

I warmed to it on sight and for many more reasons than the strong phone coverage.

200 metres away from our former home, our new office is light-filled, has a great communal area overlooking the treetops, and will see our national and NSW teams together on a single floorplate.

With thanks to our multi-disciplinary teams, led by Jane Fitzgerald, who have worked tirelessly to make this happen ahead of original schedule.

Thanks also to Peter Verwer who has marshalled our papers and lovingly archived our cassette tapes along the way.

I know our Sydney team are very much looking forward to welcoming you into our new home.

I very much look forward to seeing you there!
