Dr Nick Hartland PSM is a First Assistant Secretary in the Ageing and Aged Group, Department of Health and Aged Care.

Nick is responsible for providing advice on aged care means testing and funding arrangements, and the government’s response to the Aged Care Taskforce Final Report.

Nick has held previous roles advising on the implementation of the AN-ACC, Support at Home, health economics, the development of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and Commonwealth income support payments (Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, Carer Payment and Carer Allowance).

Nick has a PhD in Criminology from Melbourne University and a Bachelor Degree in Political Science. In 2014, Nick received a Public Service Medal for his contributions to social policy, including the establishment of the NDIS and pension reform.
