Acsess Health Award for Best Revitalisation
This Award recognises an outstanding refurbishment in retirement living that have been completed in the previous five years, have been operating for at least one year as at 30 June 2024 and have not previously won the Award.
A refurbishment can relate to units and/or community facilities such as dining areas, library, swimming pool, croquet lawn, etc which have undergone minor or large refurbishment.
The Award is open to members of the Property Council of Australia only. View the conditions of entry here.Â
The cost to enter this award is $950 including GST.

BlueCare Brassall Retirement Village

BlueCare Brassall Retirement Village undertook a major refurbishment project modernise what was a basically a product that was now deemed to be not commercially viable to meet the market needs. A refurbishment program was approved to modernise the aging units and community spaces while maintaining purchase affordability— a key factor for the local area. The transformation not only revitalised the units and communal areas but also reinvigorated community spirit, exceeding expectations for current and future residents.

The North Lakes Community is set on 14 hectares of landscaped grounds, home to nearly 500 residents. The refurbishment of the Town Hall and Club House has revitalized key community spaces, incorporating modern finishes and sustainable practices. Designed to minimise disruption, the project has exceeded resident expectations, creating a resort-style atmosphere that fosters community engagement and satisfaction. With eco-friendly solutions, improved accessibility, and careful design, the transformation has elevated the village’s appeal and resident pride, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.
Levande Belcarra Community Centre

The Bellcarra Community Centre refurbishment revitalised a 20-year-old facility, creating a modern, accessible, and vibrant space for residents. Key upgrades include new flooring, lighting, automatic front doors, and a redesigned layout that enhances accessibility and social interaction. The project reflects sustainable practices and was carefully planned to minimize disruption. Resident satisfaction has significantly improved, with the new centre fostering a stronger sense of community, comfort, and wellbeing, positioning Bellcarra as a leading example in retirement living.
Little Bay Apartments Refurbishment

Moving from reinstating properties to refurbishing (where required) at Little Bay Apartments has lifted the ongoing quality of the Village, keeping it relevant for our residents. The success of the first refurbishment, which was reserved based on plans and finishes schedules while works were still underway, has resulted in another 6 properties being refurbished and reserved at the Village. This speaks to the outstanding quality and design that has been created, showing value to both our outgoing and incoming residents.

Aveo The Manors of Mosman Community Centre

Aveo’s revitalised Community Centre at The Manors of Mosman opened in late 2023 to resounding praise by residents and staff. The 830sqm refurbishment was carefully planned and delivered in two stages over 14 months, transforming a dark 35-year-old interior with basic amenities, into a welcoming, light-filled space with seamless indoor-outdoor connection and meticulously detailed finishes and specifications. Sale prices have increased by 13%, with more interactions between residents and visitors and improved community wellbeing.
Lisson Manor Community Hub

In collaboration with residents at the small retirement community of Lisson Manor in inner Melbourne, Aveo transformed the 30-year-old communal spaces with more amenity and bespoke finishes. The project involved an upgrade to the reception, hair and wellness studio, media and theatre room, private dining room, courtyard, activities area, tea stations and library shelves. The functional new design is fostering a renewed sense of community and has been embraced by staff, residents and visitors.
Aveo Peninsula Gardens Community Centre

Peninsula Gardens is Aveo’s 112-unit retirement community at Bayview on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Its revitalised Community Centre opened in June 2023 after extensive planning and a 12-month staged construction program. Aveo collaborated with residents and stakeholders to optimise the 550sqm floor plan across three levels, enhancing the 39-yearold building with brighter and functional spaces, improved views, and much-loved Sky Lounge. The project has significantly
boosted resident enjoyment and engagement, with 17% uplift in sale prices since the refurbishment.
Aveo Concierge Bayside Common Areas Upgrade Project

Aveo’s Concierge Bayside Common Areas Upgrade Project transformed outdated internal spaces into bright and modern areas for residents, staff and visitors to enjoy. The 4-month project provided around 45 residents at the community in Melbourne’s south with a warm environment and enhanced opportunities to socialise, relax, and feel at home. After 24 years in operation, residents welcomed the refreshed spaces with an enhanced sense of pride emanating across the community boosted resident enjoyment and engagement, with 17% uplift in sale prices since the refurbishment.
Aveo Botanic Gardens Community Centre Revitalisation

Aveo’s Botanic Gardens Community Centre Revitalisation has rejuvenated outdated community areas to meet the demands of today’s retirees who want to live in vibrant, contemporary and connected community. This project provided the 180 residents at this close-knit community in Melbourne’s South-East with beautifully appointed places to socialise, invite friends and family into the community, and take advantage of the facilities to live a full life. Since completion, Botanic Gardens has experienced an uplift in sale prices and resident satisfaction.
Forest Hills Community Centre Refurbishment

Following a $1.7m transformation, Keyton’s Forest Hills retirement village community centre has been given a new lease of life. The refurbishment included redesigning the main entry and relocating the village administration team into the building. A new library, multipurpose room, and two consulting suites were added. The alfresco area was also reimagined to create a safer and more comfortable space for resident’s enjoyment all year round. The transformation has reactivated the community centre as the social hub of the village.boosted resident enjoyment and engagement, with 17% uplift in sale prices since the refurbishment.

Domaine Retirement Village

In collaboration with the residents of Domainé Retirement Living, Aveo delivered the Community Centre Upgrade Project in September, 2023, transforming and refreshing 22-year old spaces and adding a sophisticated feel to the Doncaster, Victoria village. The project involved a revamp of shared spaces, and the addition of new social spaces, including a café, pergola, and barbeque area. The Community Centre’s new flexible and functional design is opening doors for residents to engage in new
cultural, social and lifestyle experiences.

The refurbishment of the central Hub of the village includes the creation of CJ’s lounge and a new library space. The lounge provides coffee, light lunches and snacks to dine in or take away and the Library has an array of books, dvds and games. The hub is a meeting place for residents to socialise and is easily accessible by all.
