It is a great pleasure and privilege for me to write this brief submission outlining the outstanding contribution of G J Dusseldorp to Australia and in particular the Property Industry.
From his arrival in Australia in the early 1950’s to his retirement from Lend Lease in 1988 G J as he is fondly known, pioneered Design & Construct then Project management as project delivery systems, he also developed Development Management and Property management within the Group.
In the early 1970’s he launched Australia’s first listed property trust “General Property Trust. He also was responsible for the development of the Strata Title System of property ownership.
During his 30 plus years with Lend Lease he showed tremendous foresight in relation to employee benefits education and training, the Dusseldorp Skills Forum and Australia’s participation in the Skills Olympics, early vesting of Company Superannuation Contributions (unheard of in the 1970’s) and obtaining Shareholder approval for 5% of pre tax profits to be shared by all employees on an egalitarian basis (from site worker to the CEO), are just four of his initiatives.
G J Dusseldorp was a truly outstanding contributor to the Australian Property Industry, employees generally and the community.
