It gives me great pleasure to accept this important award and to join such eminent icons of the property industry of Australia.
The Perron Group is small in numbers of people and we like to keep a low profile and of course we are buried away on the opposite side of the continent in Perth, Western Australia so i was taken by surprise that anyone at actually heard of us and of course humbled that i am judged worthy of this recognition.
We’ve been members of the Property Council of Australia for about forty years and have always been keen to support the council as the representative of the property industry and of course as our lobbyist at various government levels.
My first large scale property venture was an office building in St Georges Terrace Perth in the early 70’s. By coincidence that was also the first multi-story construction job for another famous Perth entity, John Roberts of Multiplex Constructions fame. I went on to buy my first small shopping centre in 1972 and have never looked back from then.
I work with a very small group of long serving and dedicated staff and no matter how large the transactions have become, try to adhere to my golden guiding principles of treating people well, behaving ethically and above all, keeping things simple.
So thank you to the Property Council for this award and thank you to my loyal staff. And a special thank you to my wife Jean for her support over so many years.
