Turnbull announces new Ministry
Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull has announced his Ministry this week with minimal changes having been made to cabinet.
The Property Council of Australia looks forward to the opportunities that will arise from Minister Paul Fletcher’s new focus on urban infrastructure. Northern Territory Director of the Property Council Ruth Palmer said.
“We also look forward to working with the Federal Government on the Barneson Boulevard Project and seeing the commitment to fund $29.5 million into the progress of the Boulevard fulfilled.
“We have been advocating for the Barneson Boulevard Project for some time now and the importance of this road link cannot be understated.
“The implementation of the Barneson Boulevard Project is a forward planning solution to a community identified need that will lead to positive economic and social outcomes for the Darwin Community.
“We need to ensure that we have a long term plan for the region and strong support across all levels of government. The funding of this project and the support provided by all levels of government clearly show the importance the Darwin City Centre plays as the primary employment and entertainment hub of the Top End.
“Projects like these will help improve confidence in the commercial property sector. A commitment from the Territory Government to stop the defragmentation of our City Centre is the next step.”
Along with the Barneson Boulevard Project, the Property Council of Australia, NT Division welcomes the potential opportunities for the Top End with the elevation of Senator Matt Canavan to Minister for Resources and North Australia.
“The Territory Top End potential cannot be understated, Darwin really is the heart of North Australia and we need to ensure that this message continues to reach those in Federal Parliament.” Ms Palmer said.
“Investments in infrastructure for the NT would be particularly welcome, along with substantial road upgrades.
“The NT is growing and these investments are crucial if we are to ensure that growth is smart, well-connected and highly productive.”
