Tasmania’s education revolution

The Property Council today reiterated its support of the University of Tasmania’s vision to enhance the CBD in both Launceston and Hobart.

Property Council of Australia Executive Director TAS Brian Wightman offered that Education provided Tasmania with a unique opportunity to deliver ongoing property and construction jobs.

“It is essential for growth that we throw our weight behind advocating for property sector job creation which the University of Tasmania has demonstrated it is committed to delivering.

“We must also encourage aspirational Tasmanians who are wanting to secure their economic future through opportunities which higher education provides.”

“The STEM project fits the bill with science and technology a key component of the economy in Tasmania, where high quality research and sophisticated jobs will follow the construction jobs  which the building phase will immediately provide,” he said.

The Property Council remains of the firm view that continuous economic growth must become the new normal in Tasmania.

“While we are experiencing a boom in property and construction particularly in Hobart, we must look to what is next and the University of Tasmania’s Northern Expansion and the STEM project are exactly what our state requires.

“Vibrant cities have vibrant universities,” Mr Wightman concluded.
