Statement heralds new era for energy efficiency and productivityThe Property Council has welcomed the State Government’s announcement today of its plan to drive a long term shift towards greater energy efficiency and productivity. Victorian Executive Director, Jennifer Cunich said that the introduction of an Energy Efficiency and Productivity Statement marks a new era for targeted energy efficiency measures that can deliver economy wide benefits. “We commend the State Government’s commitment to strengthening market based incentives such as the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target, which seeks to drive a reduction in energy consumption by encouraging the use of energy efficient technology and equipment in businesses and households. “However, the greater challenge lies in translating the Statement into worktable strategies that will overcome market barriers and lead to lasting savings. “The Property Council looks forward to continued engagement to meet the shared goals of the State Government and the property industry to improve energy efficiency and productivity.” Asher Judah, Victorian Deputy Executive Director – 0499 841 715
