School Infrastructure Pipeline a Win for NSW Construction Industry

The Property Council of Australia today welcomed the announcement by NSW Deputy Premier, Minister for Education and Minister for Western Sydney Prue Car at its Western Sydney Outlook Breakfast of a new digital School Infrastructure major projects tender pipeline.

Property Council Western Sydney Regional Director Ross Grove said the new pipeline would provide greater certainty for the construction sector and support the delivery of more high-quality education infrastructure across NSW.

“A clear and transparent pipeline of school infrastructure projects provides much-needed certainty for contractors and suppliers, which in turn will help drive more efficiency and innovation in the construction sector,” Mr Grove said.

“Western Sydney is at the heart of NSW’s growth, and making sure its education infrastructure keeps pace with our growing population is critical.

“With $2.4 billion worth of tenders expected to be released this financial year, including $800 million before June 30, this is a strong signal to the market that the NSW Government is serious about partnering with industry to meet growing demand for schools across NSW,” Mr Grove said.

Mr Grove said the Deputy Premier outlined how the new online resource will improve industry visibility of upcoming tenders for new and upgraded schools, allowing businesses to plan and allocate resources more efficiently.

“This approach provides a clear roadmap for how the public and private sectors can work together to deliver the schools NSW communities need.

“By giving businesses greater visibility of upcoming tenders, the new digital pipeline initiative will help fast-track delivery, create jobs, and support the growing communities of Western Sydney with high-quality learning environments,” Mr Grove said.

Mr Grove said the Property Council supported the Minns Government’s commitment to increasing the use of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) through the rollout of pattern book designs, which will help streamline delivery and improve cost efficiency.

“Innovative approaches like modular and prefabricated construction will be key to accelerating school delivery timelines while maintaining high-quality learning environments for students.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the NSW Government to support the efficient delivery of vital education infrastructure while strengthening the state’s construction and property sectors,” Mr Grove said.
