Review WA’s industrial land strategy, industry tells new agency
In welcoming the creation of the Industrial Lands Authority (ILA), The Property Council has called on the new agency to review WA’s Industrial lands strategy.
“Now that the ILA is in place the property industry is looking for better integration of WA’s industrial land planning with other major State programs like Westport, WA’s freight logistics planning and the promised Infrastructure WA.
“The industrial land strategy is almost 10 years old, but it has always struggled to get high-level support in government for infrastructure to support the strategy’s goals of ensuring supplies of suitably serviced industrial land for the needs of industry.
“The creation of the ILA is an opportunity to refocus the industrial land strategy for the needs of industry after the mining boom.
“The Property Council welcomes the ILA’s objectives to fast-track industrial development and streamline approvals for major employment projects.
“The announcement of the approval for rezoning of 449ha of rural land in West Mundijong to industrial is a good start for the ILA.
“The industry is looking forward to consultations with the ILA about the West Mundijong rezoning and the operation of WA’s industrial land strategy”, said Mr Iacomella.
