Property Council welcomes SA Government growth planThe Property Council of Australia welcomes the South Australian Government’s new plan to grow the state economy. “The plan aligns with the Property Council’s policy objective to grow South Australia through property investment and development”, said Property Council Acting Executive Director, Lino Iacomella. “The property sector is a huge part of the state economy and we are ready and willing to work with the Government in key policy areas to promote economic growth. “The plan to unlock financial markets for businesses that want to create jobs is a good idea because it will lead to more demand for building construction to house the extra jobs. Hopefully it will also generate positive migration into South Australia that will also boost demand for housing construction. “It’s now important that we have a whole of government approach to supporting economic growth in South Australia. This includes adopting the excellent planning reforms proposed by the state’s Expert Panel on Planning Reform. “The essential component of the planning reforms is the creation of a new streamlined planning process that cuts through the development red-tape and permits development proposals to be processed efficiently and based entirely on the merits of the proposals. “The Property Council also welcomes the Government’s 10 economic priorities. “It is very pleasing that the Government’s priorities include the recognition of Adelaide as the economic heart of the state. We would go further and say that the Adelaide city centre also needs recognition due to its special cultural and economic significance to South Australia. “Its also pleasing that the Government’s economic priorities include easier access to capital for growth businesses as well as more support for services to the ageing population. South Australia is a leading state for the provision of retirement living products. “The Property Council looks forward to engaging with the Government’s key growth agencies to explore economic growth opportunities in the property sector”, said Mr Iacomella.
