Property Council welcomes road map being brought forward

The Property Council of Australia has welcomed the changes to the NSW State Government’s roadmap out of COVID as economic activity looks set to increase in time for Christmas.

NSW Property Council’s Executive Director Luke Achterstraat said changing the one person per four square metre to two square metre rule, as well as 100 per cent fixed seated capacity for major recreation outdoor facilities, from November 8 will give confidence to the people and businesses of NSW as more individuals are allowed to trade and gather.

“Reducing limits on capacity for venues, events and eateries will allow business owners to trade and service customers at a greater rate than planned and be ready for a busy Christmas,” Mr Achterstraat said. 

“We welcome the retention of sensible health measures as we all do our part to keep each other safe. These measures are working as case numbers remain low and if we keep it up, we can all enjoy the confidence and freedoms heading into the festive season.

“Our state is on track to become one of the highest vaccinated jurisdictions in the world. It’s important to continue to provide exciting drawcard opportunities to encourage and incentivise people to return to the CBD and the office after such a long hiatus.

“With low case numbers and high vaccination rates, it is time to get back on the bike and start pedalling again.”
