Property Council welcomes revitalisation of Central Station

The Property Council welcomes the announcement today by Transport Minister Andrew Constance that Central Station will receive a major overhaul.

NSW Property Council Executive Director Jane Fitzgerald said the property industry was looking forward to contributing to the consultation process to turn the station into a world class transport hub.

“Central station has been in need of a major overhaul for years – it’s tired and neglected.

“It should be a space for world-class design and transport – a space that reflects Sydney’s status as a truly global city.

“The station is a key aspect of the redevelopment of the southern end of the CBD as metro and light rail connects visitors and locals to new development”

“The private sector is well placed to turn Central from a tired station of yesteryear to a modern marvel.  There is no reason why Central Station can’t be one of the premier stations in the world, comparable to Kings Cross in London or Grand Central Station in New York.

“The Property Council looks forward to contributing to the consultation process and working with the government to create a new station Sydney can be proud of.”
