Property Council welcomes release of EIS for Western Sydney’s M12 Motorway  

The Property Council of Australia is welcoming the release of the Environmental Impact Statement for the M12 Motorway project, a proposed 16-kilometre motorway connection between the M7 and Northern Road for the purposes of facilitating access to Western Sydney Airport. 

“The M12 is more than just a road to the airport – it’s the east-west spine for the aerotropolis precinct and an important step in unlocking the employment generating capacity of Western Sydney.” Ross Grove, the Property Council’s Western Sydney Regional Director said today. 

“Progress toward the M12 is another successful step in the delivery of the Western Sydney City Deal – a written agreement between the federal government, state government and eight local councils.  

“The delivery of a well-connected, well-supported city in the vast expanse between Penrith and Liverpool requires the co-operation and inclusion of every stakeholder along the way.  

“The Property Council was a pioneer in supporting the introduction of city deals to Australia – input from the private sector is crucial to ensuring the target of 200,000 jobs for the aerotropolis is met over the next 20 years.” 

The Environmental Impact Statement is on public exhibition until 18 November 2019 and submissions can be lodged via the Major Project’s section of the NSW Government’s Planning Portal. Roads and Maritime Services is hosting community information sessions across Kemps Creek and Luddenham.
