Property Council welcomes new Secretary of NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment
The Property Council of Australia welcomes Ms Kiersten Fishburn to her newly appointed role as the Secretary of the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE).
NSW Executive Director Luke Achterstraat said Ms Fishburn had been a force for good in the NSW Department for Planning, Industry and Environment since the commencement of her tenure.
“Under the outgoing Secretary Mr Jim Betts, Kiersten’s establishment of the Planning Delivery Unit (PDU) has sought to remove the roadblocks and build the critical housing and infrastructure needed across New South Wales,” Mr Achterstraat said.
“Kiersten’s background in Local Government will stand her in good stead to ensure a productive working relationship between state and local government’s planning objectives going forward.
“We look forward to working with Kiersten in the times ahead, supporting the planning, housing and infrastructure initiatives needed to move us beyond this pandemic, and meet the future needs of the state.
“The planning system reform outlined in the Productivity Commission White Paper will be critical for delivery to the state and we stand ready to assist in its delivery.”
Mr Achterstraat extended his thanks to outgoing Secretary Mr Jim Betts, noting his commitment to a productive and constructive working relationship with the Property Council and its members.
“Mr Betts has shown a strong commitment to the property industry in NSW, ensuring stakeholder relations and consultation remain a strong thread in his work to progress reform. We look forward to a continuing relationship with him as he move in to his new role in Premier and Cabinet in October”.
