The Property Council has welcomed today’s announcement from the NSW Government that the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 will proceed despite several other major projects being halted.
Property Council’s Western Sydney Director Ross Grove said Parramatta was quickly becoming one of Australia’s most well-connected cities.
“The Stage 2 route will connect the existing light rail project to Olympic Park via Camellia, Rydalmere, Melrose Park and Wentworth Point which are a focal point for current and existing growth in the Greater Parramatta area,” Mr Grove said.
“Light Rail and the Sydney Metro West project position the city well for its future growth trajectory as a destination for both housing and employment.”
Mr Grove said it will remain important to continue to do the hard work to ensure the planning system is capable at realising the economic benefits of the government’s infrastructure agenda.
“As new precincts are connected into the light rail network, we need to maximise the potential of new neighbourhoods and employment areas,” he said.
“We look forward to joining with the community, industry and government stakeholders who fought so hard for this light rail to be delivered to achieve this next wave of growth for the city.”
