The Property Council of Australia is pleased NSW Labor has committed in line with NSW Liberal to the business case investigations for three rail lines in Western Sydney.

Property Council’s Western Sydney Director David White said the decision was a strong sign that both parties were aiming to increase public transport accessibility in the critical region.

“It’s good to see Labor focused on the Tallawong to St Marys link and Aerotropolis link to Campbelltown and Macarthur as priority links. They also remain committed to the business case investigation for the Aerotropolis via Leppington to Glenfield link, which is presently occurring,” Mr White said.

“However, Labor has not committed to the business case funding for the Aerotropolis to Westmead and Liverpool to Bankstown metro rail links.”

“We now urge government to work with industry to kick-start the precinct planning investigations, that are closely aligned with the rail corridor planning process, to identify land for future stations to become the centre-points for further growth in Western Sydney.

“It is critical that Western Sydney has locations for housing choice, jobs that are close to home and which provide a high level of amenity to attract investment from developers to first home buyers.”
