Property Council Launches Landmark Mentoring Initiative for Future Leaders

The Property Council has launched the WA Future Leaders mentoring initiative which partners the industry’s next generation with today’s leaders.

The launch was held at the Future Directions’ August networking event and  was attended by more than 130 industry professionals, mentors and mentees who received an opening address by networking expert Ron Gibson on how to be a successful networker and increase professional contacts.

The 15 week scheme, the first of its kind in the industry in WA, sees 32 final year university students, or recent graduates, taken under the guidance of a professional working in the industry.

Each participant will have regular meetings with their mentor, take part in a resume building workshop and be given rare networking opportunities at Property Council events.

“The Property Council is committed to championing the next generation of the property industry. The launch of this unique and innovative mentoring initiative allows us to nurture future talent by connecting it with the current crop of industry leaders,” Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said.

“Our Future Leaders initiative will demonstrate the attractiveness of a career in the property industry, foster talented, ambitious individuals, and ensure the future success of not only the participants, but the industry as a whole.”

“I strongly believe that our latest mentoring offering will positively promote our great industry and give new talent a launching pad for a successful and worthwhile career.”

Participants, from across three of WA’s top universities, were chosen from a variety of faculties and then paired with an industry professional picked from architects, developers, planners and researchers.

The programme is the brainchild of the Property Council’s Future Directions Committee which aims to promote the property industry to the next generation, offer networking opportunities and encourage businesses to give back.

Companies taking part in the program include; Atkinson Legal, Scentre Group, Lendlease, Property ESP, Hawaiian, Frasers Property Group, Urbis, TPG, Stockland, DMG, Colliers International, OP Properties and AMP Capital.
