Property Council forms industry alliance with South African groupThe Property Council of Australia and the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) have signed a memorandum of understanding designed to foster even closer collaboration between the two bodies.The MOU was endorsed in Sydney last week by Darren Steinberg, national president of the Property Council, and SAPOA president Estienne de Klerk.”The aim of the alliance is to foster a more informed, transparent, efficient and respected marketplace in our respective spheres of influence.” said Mr. Steinberg.”This is an important agreement for the property industry in Australia and South Africa. Our vision is for the agreement to increase investment, data exchange and understanding between our two countries and the regions in which we operate,” said Mr. de Klerk.As part of the MOU, SAPOA and the Property Council have agreed to:maximise dialogue on mutually identified issues determined on an annual basis;keep each other informed of activities slated to occur within their respective regions of influence;share information on leading industry practices and guidelines;assist with the collection of data for research projects or the development of performance measures where relevant;identify ongoing research projects that develop the intellectual property underpinning these endeavours;identify and share views on public policy issues;exchange perspectives on international advocacy issues on a regular basis.SAPOA is a non-profit industry association that represents the real-estate sector in South Africa.For further comments:Peter Verwer: Chief Executive, Property Council of Australia – 0407 463 842
