Property Council encourages Sydney Metro program to stay on track

The Property Council of Australia has called for progress toward the delivery of Sydney Metro West and Sydney Metro City and Southwest to be retained following the NSW Government’s announcement of an independent review into the program.

Property Council’s Acting Western Sydney Director David White said the review should not be to the detriment of key Western Sydney projects designed to accommodate the region’s growth.

“Sydney Metro West will be our region’s next steel spine,” Mr White said.

“It will service a range of growth precincts across seven new stops. If anything, a review should consider whether or not it is too late to pursue a new stop at Camellia in line with previous calls from the Property Council and Business Western Sydney.

“Our region needs a long-term program of transport investment centered on metro rail, supplemented by rapid bus corridors across the Western Sydney.

“For too long we have been underserviced with public transport connections and this is impacting on the quality of life for people who live here, along with our future growth prospects.

“Connectivity is a key priority for Western Sydney, we must see these projects as more than just railways but enablers of growth, connectivity and drivers of improvement to our quality of life.”
