Property Council congratulates newly appointed Secretary of the Premier’s Department
The Property Council of Australia welcomes the NSW Premier’s announcement today that Simon Draper PSM has been appointed Secretary of the Premier’s Department.
Mr Draper is currently Chief Executive Officer of the NSW Reconstruction Authority, a role he will retain as the state prepares for the upcoming summer bushfire season.
Property Council’s NSW Executive Director Katie Stevenson said the Property Council looked forward to working with the incoming Secretary to confront the housing crisis.
“The Premier has identified increasing housing supply and affordability as his government’s top priority and there is no person better qualified to lead a whole-of government response to this issue than Simon Draper.
“Mr Draper has a wealth of experience both in government and the private sector, and a deep understanding of the property sector which will be invaluable as we work together to tackle our shared challenges.
“The Property Council was delighted to partner with Simon and his team at INSW during the pandemic as he led the government’s response to effectively support supply chains and the continued operation of the construction sector.
“We wish him every success and look forward to working with him in this critical role.” Ms Stevenson said.
Ms Stevenson acknowledged the outstanding work undertaken by Acting Secretary Peter Duncan over the past five months in leading the establishment of the new Government.
The NSW government also announced today that William Murphy will be acting Cabinet Office Secretary as recruitment for a permanent Secretary continues. Mr Draper will begin his new role from September 1.
