Property Council Awards first ever NT Life Membership The Property Council of Australia has awarded one if it’s members, Trevor Dalton with the first ever NT Life Membership at Parliament House. NT Director Ruth Palmer said, Life membership is one of the highest honours accorded by the Property Council of Australia on a person for the rest of his or her life. It recognises outstanding leadership and committed service to the Council and the profession over many years. “This is the first time in the NT history that anyone has been awarded life membership with the Property Council of Australia. “Trevor has an extensive property background in both the public and private sectors. With more than 40 years in the property industry, this experience includes some 29 years in the Northern Territory and 7 years in Asia. “A three-time resident of Darwin since 1976, Trevor returned to Darwin in April 1994 after spending the previous four years in Hong Kong and Beijing, People’s Republic of China, where he carried out a variety of property development, consultancy, marketing and management projects. “Being very familiar with the Property Council from his time working as a valuer in Adelaide, shortly after returning to Darwin in early 1994, Trevor called an industry meeting that led to the establishment of a Steering Committee tasked with lobbying Jim Service as the then National President to seek the formation of an NT Division of the Property Council of Australia (then known as BOMA). “When the NT Division was established the following year, Trevor was elected Honorary Secretary and later appointed as the inaugural Executive Director of the NT Division, being a part-time role. “Prior to the Division appointing staff, Trevor led advocacy, event activation and membership recruitment in the Northern Territory, initially as Honorary Secretary from 1994, while employed with Colliers International and later when operating his own property and development consultancy. “He has served on the NT’s Division Council since its establishment, either as an elected member or as the part-time Executive Director. On resigning from the role of Executive Director in 2007 to become the inaugural General Manager of the Territory Government’s Land Development Corporation he was invited back onto Division Council and has served as a Vice President since that time, assisting four Presidents in their roles. “Trevor has chaired the Planning & Infrastructure Subcommittee for a number of years and served on various Property Council Subcommittees and Working Groups looking at proposed legislation, government initiatives, policy changes, etc. “In addition, Trevor has often stepped into the role as acting Executive Director in recent years when the Division has been without its only staff resource. “He is currently Vice President of the NT Division of the Property Council of Australia. Not only does he work tirelessly in his role with the Property Council but he is also a Director of the Charles Darwin University Foundation.” Media contact: Ruth Palmer | M 04 428 314 | E [email protected]
