Property Council appoints 2017-2018 Townsville Committee

The Property Council of Australia – Queensland Division is proud to announce the members of the Townsville Committee for the 2017-2018 term.

The Property Council of Australia is the country’s leading advocate for the $670 billion property industry and currently runs 13 committees in Queensland including one solely focused on issues affecting Townsville.

A record number of nominations were received from a cross-section of the market, reinforcing the importance of these committees to our industry.

Property accounts for 10.6% of all jobs within the Townsville local government area, or 17,597 full time equivalent positions.  As a whole, the local industry delivers over $1 billion in economic activity annually.

The Property Council has a proven history in Townsville of working with all levels of Government and other stakeholders to achieve solutions to hurdles facing the local property industry, and the broader economy.

Incoming Townsville Committee Chair, Stephen Motti – Senior Principal, Brazier Motti, said that the committee will focus on ensuring the policy settings are in place to enable the industry to deliver job-creating opportunities in Townsville.

“With all three level of government on the same page, after signing the Townsville City Deal, the committee we will be focused on its implementation to make sure it delivers tangible results over the next 15 years.” Mr Motti said.

“We will also be looking to work with the Queensland Government during the drafting of the regional plan to ensure it unlocks opportunities and not create more red tape.”

The Property Council’s first Townsville lunch of 2017, to be held on Friday March 10 at the Townsville Brewery, will explore a number of major projects on the horizon. From the stadium and convention centre, through to the port expansion and major residential developments, Townsville is set to benefit from investment in an unprecedented diversity of projects in 2017.
