Property Council announces Katie Stevenson as new NSW Executive Director

The Property Council of Australia today announced the appointment of Ms Katie Stevenson as its New South Wales Executive Director.

Ms Stevenson joins the Property Council after serving five years as the Chief of Staff to former NSW Minister the Hon. Rob Stokes MP, working across the portfolios of education, planning and public spaces, transport and roads, infrastructure, cities and active transport.

Prior to her Chief of Staff role Ms Stevenson worked as a policy team leader and specialist urban designer at the Department of Planning. She has also previously worked as an urban designer at Cititek in Copenhagen, and in planning at Leichhardt, Burwood and Sutherland Shire Councils.

Property Council Chief Executive Mike Zorbas said following an extensive recruitment process, he was delighted to welcome Ms Stevenson to the role.

“Katie’s strategic experience across all levels of government, together with her deep knowledge of planning means she will be an advocate of integrity and credibility,“ Mr Zorbas said.

“Katie knows the policy detail and has dedicated her accomplished career to the creation of great places and great communities.

“I know our NSW members will be looking forward to having Katie as a champion of good policy and a source of wise counsel,” he said.

The Property Council’s NSW Division President and Managing Director of PERIFA Fabrizio Perilli said the next four years presented a unique opportunity.

“NSW needs to adapt to meet the most urgent housing supply challenges in the nation and this is the time for someone of Katie’s deep experience to champion the important reforms our communities and our industry need,” Mr Perilli said.

“The new government has signalled it is determined to reclaim the initiative on planning for a growing population and Katie will be a strong voice representing our needs,” he said.

Ms Stevenson said it was an honour to be stepping into the role.

“I am delighted to lead the NSW Division of the Property Council and to continue its long history of delivering thoughtful policy, considered advocacy, and strong representation for its members,” Ms Stevenson said.

“The NSW property sector employs more people than any other and touches the lives of every person in the state, every day, which is both a privilege and a responsibility that our sector takes seriously.

“I look forward to connecting with our members at our upcoming industry events or Committee meetings, and to start working with such an experienced and high-performing staff team,” she said.

Ms Stevenson will commence in the role on 26 June 2023.
