New VCAT fee structure proposed

A new fee structure for the Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal will introduce a new $51 charge for residents wanting to be heard individually in a planning matter.

The Property Council has welcomed proposed levy, which is expected to reduce vexatious and frivolous objections limiting VCAT’s ability to deal with matters in a timely way.

Last year the Property Council provided comment to the fees review after being consulted by the Government.

The $51 planning fee will only apply to those who wish to become part of the case, and would not stop an objection being lodged at VCAT.

The new scale of fees would be introduced from July this year, to replace the existing regulations governing fees which will expire on 30 June.
