New social and affordable housing welcomed

The Property Council today welcomes the announcement of the successful tenderer for Ivanhoe Estate – a renewal development that will provide 3000 new units, including at least 9 social housing units and 128 affordable rental units to NSW.

The successful tenderer – Aspire consortium – which includes Frasers Property Australia, Citta Property Group and Mission Australia Housing, will develop the new estate which is the first of five major sites to be delivered under the Communities Plus program.

“This is good news for those in the community looking for quality affordable housing that is well connected to local services, infrastructure and employment opportunities,” Property Council of Australia NSW Executive Director Jane Fitzgerald said today.

“To meet the housing affordability challenge in NSW we require a diversity of housing options to meet the diverse needs of the community – this project is a good example of this in practice.

“The project is also a great example of the private, public and not-for-profit sectors working together to deliver affordable, sustainable development – more of these partnerships will continue to lead to good outcomes for NSW.”
