New Brisbane landmark takes home top property honour
An apartment development that mimics the movements of the Brisbane River has been recognised as Australia’s best residential development at the nation’s prestigious property awards.
Newport, located in Frasers Property Australia’s Hamilton Reach community, was presented with the Crown Group Award for Best Residential Development at the 2018 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation & Excellence Awards.
Newport, located within the $700 million Hamilton Reach masterplanned community, is located just six kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD. The boutique development comprises 34 prestigious two- and three-bedroom apartments across five levels.
“Newport’s location, on an irregularly-shaped plot of land that was formerly an industrial wharf, demanded a careful and considered planning, design and construction approach,” says the Property Council’s Chief Executive, Ken Morrison.
“Newport’s stunning architecture has introduced a superior quality product to the Hamilton Reach community.
“Frasers Property Australia’s visionary approach has been embraced by the market, with per cent of apartments sold within the first three months of the project’s launch,” Mr Morrison adds.
According to RLB Managing Director NSW, Matthew Harris, Newport is a “sustainability showcase” that incorporates green design features including thermal efficiency, rainwater tanks, solar power and double glazing.
“This project demanded a real commitment to design excellence – and the result is a memorable building which is has become a new landmark along the Brisbane River,” Mr Harris says.
