Media Statement: Bipartisan commitment to planning reform welcomedIn the past fortnight Queenslanders have seen both major political parties acknowledge that reform is needed to Queensland’s planning and development assessment system to create prosperity and improve housing affordability across Queensland, the Property Council says. “It is very pleasing to see that a consensus has emerged across stakeholders and political divides that a better planning and development assessment system is a priority for Queensland,” says Queensland Executive Director of the Property Council Chris Mountford. “Last week, the Government released its Better Planning for Queensland directions paper, which clearly articulated the Government’s plans for the continuation of planning reform in Queensland. “And today the Opposition has introduced new planning legislation into the Parliament that was developed following 18 months of consultation during their time in office.”The Property Council’s media release can be found at the PDF link below.
