Mark Burrows wins Queensland RV Salesperson of the Year
Former English teacher Mark Burrows – who’s known for cleaning units, tidying up gardens and installing Tunstall machines before handover – has been crowned Queensland Salesperson of the Year in front of his peers.
Described as an active listener and someone who always goes above and beyond, Mr Burrows was a finalist in the same category last year and oversees 525 units ranging from studios through to three-bedroom units for BlueCare Retirement Living in South-East Queensland and along the Sunshine Coast.
Mr Burrows has been working as a roving sales manager since 2017, earning the praise of hundreds of residents he’s assisted over the years – some going as far to say: “nothing was any trouble for him, and he went above and beyond to help”.
Residents Judy and Graham Power, from Wondall Gardens, said: “From our first meeting with Mark when we raised an interest in purchasing our unit at Wondall Gardens, we found him to be extremely helpful along the way with different issues that arose.”
“He has been very considerate and thoughtful with matters relating to the unit. It was especially helpful when it was time to take possession (of the unit),” the couple said.
BlueCare Retirement Living Operations Manager, Nadine Lister, said Mr Burrows always has time to speak to residents and families.
“I often witness Mark interacting with residents at various sites. The atmosphere is always fun and enjoyable, and he makes the time to stop and chat – even in the car park on his way home,” Ms Lister said.
“I only hear nice comments about Mark from staff and residents and it is a pleasure to have him in our team.”
Retirement Living Council Executive Director, Daniel Gannon, said Mr Burrows’ dedication was obvious in all submissions made by residents and colleagues.
“Mr Burrows is a person who cares about people and his passion for serving in the retirement living sector shines through without fault,” Mr Gannon said.
“His dedication right down to cleaning units and tidying gardens before handover is impressive just as much as it is heartwarming.”
Mr Burrows – like all winners of regional awards over the coming months – will now go into the running to be crowned Australia’s Salesperson of the Year at the RLC’s National Retirement Living Summit in Brisbane in June this year.
