Light rail moves Melbourne in right direction, says Property Council

The Property Council has welcomed yesterday’s announcement of a light rail route for Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs.

Unlocking a transport corridor which links the innovation and employment hubs in the south-east with retail and residential precincts is a key step in the management of Melbourne’s record growth.

Property Council Victorian Deputy Executive Director, Matthew Kandelaars, said that the much-anticipated decision sends the right signals to industry, and he encouraged government to follow through on the timely planning, funding and delivery of the project.

“We are pleased that the State Government has taken this important first step and we would like to see a bi-partisan commitment to deliver this project in the next term of Government,” said Mr Kandelaars.
