Leading women in property lunch

It was a full house at Aria restaurant on Thursday for the Property Council’s Leading Women in Property Lunch. The event focused on the perennial industry challenge of attracting and retaining talent.

New research, unveiled at the lunch, revealed that many women do not choose careers in property, rather they ‘accidentally’ find themselves in the industry. This raised the broader question of how we can collectively work together to promote property as the first choice of more women at a younger age. 

Discussing the research and how the industry should respond were; Selina Short – Oceania Business Development Leader – EY, Greg Chubb – Head of Retail Charter Hall, Josephine Sukkar – Principal – Buildcorp. The discussion was moderated by Property Council Chief Operating Officer, Kathy Mac Dermott. 

Many industry responses to this challenge were explored, including the Property Council’s 100 Women in Property initiative. The 100 Women program is part of our commitment to achieve a significant and sustainable increase in the number of women in leadership positions in the property industry, and a pipeline of future leaders. It involves a personal commitment from Property Council committee members to champion women in their business sphere who they believe would benefit from further networking and professional development opportunities.

Throughout the lunch, over $1,900 was raised for the ‘Givit‘ online giving portal.
