Jim Hazel and Charlotte Vidor AM inducted into the Australian Property Hall of Fame

Jim Hazel and Charlotte Vidor AM will tonight be inducted into the Australian Property Hall of Fame thanks to their tireless leadership and remarkable achievements.

Senior industry leaders will pay tribute to the outstanding contributions made by both recipients at the Property Council of Australia’s Property Hall of Fame Gala Dinner which will take place at the Great Hall in Parliament House in Canberra this evening.

Property Council Chief Executive Mike Zorbas said the induction of Mr Hazel and Ms Vidor into the Australian Property Hall of Fame was in recognition of their pioneering efforts in their respective fields.

“Both Jim and Charlotte have played tremendously influential roles in the industry,” Mr Zorbas.

“Without their remarkable leadership, retirement villages and serviced apartments would not have achieved the level of success they enjoy today.

“Jim played a foundational role in the success of the retirement living industry. The results of his decades of commitment, bold thinking and customer focus will benefit senior Australians for generations to come.  He has extended his access, advice and network to property executives across the country, thus assisting industry’s advancement at the same time.

“Similarly, Charlotte was a pioneer of the serviced apartments industry, taking an idea from overseas and fitting it into the Australian context. She has been a trailblazer for women in construction and development, created new classes of hospitality assets and generously supported the career growth of many young people.”

Mr Hazel said it was an honour to be inducted into the Australian Property Hall of Fame, both as the first South Australian and first from the retirement living sector.

“This is an extraordinary, and humbling, honour,” he said.

“Being recognised for creating wonderful communities for senior Australians is a great joy to me.”

Ms Vidor said she is appreciative of the recognition.

“It’s a tremendous honour to be welcomed into the Property Hall of Fame,” she said.

“I am sincerely thankful for this recognition and proud to be in the company of so many respected leaders in the industry.”

The Property Council would like to thank the Hall of Fame selection committee, chaired by Darren Steinberg and comprising Greg Paramor AO, Carolyn Viney, Laurence Lancini, Lexia Wilson, Steven Yovich and Rosina Di Maria, for their contribution to this year’s Australian Property Hall of Fame induction.

The Australian Property Hall of Fame, administered by the Property Council, was established in 2012 and honours individuals who have provided sustained leadership, made a major pioneering contribution and left an outstanding legacy to the property industry and the Australian community. Other inductees have included Frank Lowy AC, Carol Schwartz AO, Sir John Pidgeon, Sir Keith Campbell, and Sir Albert Jennings.
