Industry pays tribute to Lord Mayor Graham Quirk
The Queensland property industry has congratulated Lord Mayor Graham Quirk for his three decades of service to the people of Brisbane, including eight years in the city’s top job.
“The Lord Mayor’s willingness to engage and work with industry to deliver economic, social and environmental outcomes for the city has always been highly regarded across the Brisbane business community,” Property Council Queensland Executive Director, Chris Mountford said.
“The important role of the property industry in delivering good growth for the city has always been well understood in City Hall under the strong and collaborative leadership of the Lord Mayor throughout his 8 year term.”
“From a Property Council perspective, the legacy of this collaborative approach to policy making is evident across numerous sectors.”
“From the creation of incentives for desired projects like hotels, student accommodation, retirement and aged care to the recently announced industrial strategy – the role different sectors play has been analysed and discussed with industry at the table during the policy development process”.
“The Lord Mayor’s collaborative approach to policy making has been most evident during the 6 years of work undertaken to secure an SEQ City Deal.”
“Graham Quirk has been a central and consistent force in getting 10 councils, the state and federal governments, oppositions and industry on the same page for this deal.”
“On behalf of the Property Council I want to thank the Lord Mayor for his service to the city, and wish him well in his retirement.”
