Grand Plaza in Browns Plains has been awarded the accolade of 2022 Queensland Retail Property of the Year, the highest honour that a retail property or precinct can receive in Queensland. This retail asset also took home the ‘Retail Innovation Award’ at this evening’s awards ceremony.
The Property Council of Australia’s Queensland Retail Property of the Year Awards recognise and celebrate the best that the state’s retail properties and precincts have to offer. The award categories reward excellence in relation to development, marketing, centre management and innovation.
The 2022 winners were announced at the annual Retail Awards Gala Dinner held at the Sofitel Hotel’s Grand Ballroom on Friday 7 October 2022.
Property Council Queensland Executive Director, Jen Williams, said this event was an incredible opportunity to celebrate the retail properties and precincts across Queensland that are reaping the rewards for persevering through significant challenges over recent years.
“Queensland is home to world-class retail assets and precincts that are cornerstones of our communities; they are places you come together with colleagues, friends and loved ones, to shop, dine and socialise. These vibrant and dynamic places offer so much more than a shopping experience,” said Ms Williams.
“Tonight, we are celebrating the significant contribution made by these precincts and professionals to the wider community, as well as recognising the excellence, innovation and resilience that sets tonight’s award winners apart from the rest of the crowd.
“Congratulations to Grand Plaza and the team at Vicinity Centres for taking home not only the Retail Innovation Award, but the top prize to boot, with the judges suitably impressed by their innovative ‘Wing’ drone delivery project.
“A worthy mention also goes to Maroochydore Homemaker Centre for receiving the Judges’ Commendation Award for Queensland Retail Property of the Year, and for having received the Award for Excellence in Centre Management for two consecutive years.
“The Property Council congratulates all winners and finalists of the 2022 Retail Property of the Year Awards. This year represented one of the most competitive pools we have had to date, which underlines the strength of the broader retail sector,” said Ms Williams.
