Future leaders of WA property industry shine
The Property Council of Australia crowned its WA Future Leader of the Year at an awards ceremony and end of year celebration held last Friday.
Aurecon Senior Structural Engineer Pratik Shrestha took home the gong for the WA Future Leader of the Year 2018 Stan Perron Award after also winning the Design category award.
The Property Council Future Leader of the Year Awards aim to acknowledge, encourage and most importantly, promote the positive contribution made to the industry by young property professionals. The event also toasted the completion of the WA Future Directions mentoring program together with the Property Council’s WA Future Directions Committee.
The awards are open to all property professionals employed in the development and investment industry aged 35 and under as of September 2018. Nominations are made by either an individual or third party and must be an employee of a Property Council member company.
The 2018 WA Future Leaders Awards categories included Management, Advisory, Development and Construction, Planning, Design, and Transaction.
Judging criteria was weighted on nominee industry contribution ( per cent), career profile (30 per cent) and a question and answer component around key challenges facing the property industry in the next 20 years and what industry leaders should be doing now to find a solution (20 per cent).
Submissions covered all aspects including the nominee’s career goals, achievements and their outstanding commitment and contribution to the property industry and wider community landscape.
Property Council of Australia WA Executive Director Sandra Brewer said the evening brought together property industry professionals from all stages in their career to celebrate the contributions and standout achievements of young property industry professionals.
“I congratulate the Property Council WA Future Directions Committee for helping us to champion such an inspiring event,” Ms Brewer said.
“All of our WA Future Leader of the Year Award nominees should be very proud of their achievements in their careers so far and the Property Council of Australia is excited to work with them as they grow and develop throughout their professional lives,” she said.
“Thank you to our emcee Scott Nugent from AMP Capital, our judges, and Future Directions Partners Airlite Group, KPMG SGA and Primewest for sponsoring this terrific event. A big thanks also goes to our Future Directions mentoring program participants who help shape tomorrow’s leaders of our industry today.
“We also paid tribute to the life of Australian Property Hall of Fame member Mr Stan Perron on the night, who sadly passed away on the morning of the awards. Our WA Future Leader of the Year award is named after Mr Perron for his outstanding determination, passion and commitment to the property industry in Western Australia, and he will be sadly missed by its community”.
