FULLARTON RETIREMENT VILLAGE MANAGER RECOGNISED IN NATIONAL AWARDS
Leadership skills, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and engaging and inspiring residents are among the qualities recognised in the SA/NT winner for the Programmed Award for Village Manager of the Year for 2018.
Angela Trevor joined the staff of the Living Choice Fullarton Retirement Village eight months prior to the completion of the 140-apartment facility, which opened its doors to residents in December 2014.
Since then, she has held roles including Resident Care Coordinator, Sales Consultant and Sales Manager.
When the position of Village Manager became available 12 months ago, Angela was identified as the perfect candidate for the role.
One of her achievements as Village Manager has been the expansion of services through the village Wellness Centre, which are not only available to residents, but also the wider Fullarton community.
A team of eight service providers now provide a range of wellness sessions and consultations throughout the week, and the Fullarton model has been introduced at a sister village in Woodcroft.
The Fullarton village enjoys strong ties with its local community by making its café, restaurant and function rooms available to the public and local community for hire. A number of organisations now use these facilities in addition to village residents, who are also encouraged to attend the public functions and events as ambassadors for the village.
As well as looking after the needs of residents and managing the village’s business affairs, Angela has also been known to entertain residents by playing the grand piano which graces the foyer of the village’s Grand Hall. She is also leading the establishment of a village choir.
One resident described Angela as “a ‘quiet achiever’ but achieve she does!”
“Angela has excelled at making this village harmonious and welcoming to all, given that unusually, we have a great number of ‘outsiders’ too who share our space and use our facilities. Living Choice Fullarton has developed into far more than just a retirement village.”
The Programmed Award for Village Manager of the Year is part of the National Retirement Living Awards, which recognises the contribution and achievements across all areas of the retirement living sector by the people and companies helping ensure senior Australians have an enjoyable retirement.
Today’s State Winner will receive a trophy, and a $200 gift voucher from Programmed Property Services. The voucher will be presented to the winner at a morning tea hosted by Programmed at the winners’ respective village, so that they can celebrate with their residents. The State winner will then be in the running for the 2018 Programmed Award for Village Manager of the Year, which will be announced at the 2018 National Retirement Living Awards to be held in Canberra on 29 November.
