Driver of diversity picks up Property Professional of the Year AwardA property industry professional with a passion for diversity issues has been named the ACT Property Professional of the Year for 2015. Jo Metcalfe, Operating Centre Manager of ACT/NSW with professional services firm GHD, was presented with the 2015 Allan Wylucki ACT Property Professional of the Year Award at a gala dinner at Parliament House last night. According to Property Council ACT Executive Director Catherine Carter, Metcalfe is a highly-respected member of the Canberra property industry who has championed the diversity agenda for many years. “Jo has been a significant contributor to the property industry for more than a decade, and has sat on Property Council’s ACT Division Council since 2004,” Ms Carter says. “For many years she was the chair of the Property Council’s planning committee, and was a strong voice on planning issues affecting the future of Canberra. More recently, she’s been chair of our Diversity Committee – and in this role she has inspired, motivated and challenged the industry to embrace diversity to improve business performance and attract talented employees.” Metcalfe is a director of Consult Australia, holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Hons) from the University of New South Wales and an MBA from La Trobe University. She was awarded the ACT Telstra Business Woman of the Year (Private/Corporate) in 2009 and has been twice awarded the ACT Executive Director’s Award for contribution to the Property Council. In May 2015 Metcalfe was appointed to the Council of the University of Canberra. “Highly respected by government and industry, Jo is committed to leading a high-performance team, to building a strong property industry and giving back to the Canberra community,” Ms Carter says. “Her friends in the industry are continually astounded by her all-round ability to carry out a challenging role, volunteer her time on many committees, swim 24-hour marathons for charity, play the violin, and raise a family. We are delighted to present this award to such an outstanding representative of our industry,” Ms Carter concludes. The Property Professional of the Year Award, sponsored by Hays Construction and Property, recognises individuals who demonstrate outstanding performance in their profession, and honours the contribution of Allan Wylucki. A Principal at McCann Property & Planning and the author of the ACT Office Market Report for 10 years, Allan made an outstanding contribution to Canberra’s property industry. A mentor and friend to many, Allan passed away in August 2002 after a long battle with cancer. Media contact: Catherine Carter| M 0412 330 079| P 02 6248 6902
