David Brookman wins SA/NT RV Salesperson of the Year

When it comes to supporting and settling older Australians into their new life in a retirement village, David Brookman’s gift isn’t talking – it’s listening.

And that’s why – with more than two decades of sales experience – Living Choice’s Mr Brookman has been awarded Retirement Village Salesperson of the Year in Adelaide today.

The attentive sales consultant has helped hundreds of retirees transition to a new way of living over the past four-and-a-half years in Adelaide’s southern suburbs – many of whom have found their pocket of paradise in Woodcroft.

With the final stage of construction at the village underway – which will see the addition of 24 new villas – Mr Brookman is ready to showcase the lifestyle benefits on offer at Living Choice.

Resident Jean Showell said: “I have been settled for a fortnight. I have met lots of nice people. I love my little house and am really happy.”

“I met David.  He showed me this villa which was undergoing refurbishment. I liked it and I went and talked to my family who liked the idea. I had not looked at RVs before. David was kind and considerate and was absolutely fine,” Mrs Showell said.

In their interactions with Mr Brookman, other residents said: “David has been very good and very helpful”.

Living Choice Australia National Marketing Manager, Megan Mallick, said Mr Brookman approaches objections as an indicator of interest, which is why he’s achieved the most sales nationwide over the past three financial years.

“He always thanks the client for their objection and addresses it at the right time. He may park it until later, but it will be addressed appropriately,” she said.

“(His) tours of the village are tailored and focused on what is important to the client, it could be social activities or maybe it’s security and safety, or the type of property they want. What they will know is that this is not a “going through the motions” tour, it is an introduction to a potentially better life.”

Upon receiving his award, Mr Brookman said he was humbled.

“Winning this award really is… I’m very pleased for our whole organisation because it’s a team effort,” he said.

“For me the inspiration comes from the clients and seeing their lives change.”

RLC Executive Director, Daniel Gannon, congratulated Mr Brookman on his win.

“Trust is everything in retirement village sales, but listening runs a close second, and Mr Brookman, as proven by his award, understands his clients and their specific needs,” Mr Gannon said.

“Mr Brookman doesn’t chase sales, he chases solutions, and that type of dedication is why he is so worthy of the SA/NT Salesperson of the Year award.”

Mr Brookman – like all winners of regional awards – will now go into the running to be crowned Australia’s Salesperson of the Year at the RLC’s National Retirement Living Summit in Brisbane in June.
