Daniel Gannon appointed new SA Executive Director
The Property Council of Australia has announced Daniel Gannon as its new South Australian Executive Director.
Mr Gannon is currently the Director of Media and Communications with SA Opposition Leader Steven Marshall MP. He has previously worked as a corporate affairs adviser for the South Australian Cricket Association, a media adviser for then Opposition Leader Isobel Redmond MP, and also worked in media and policy for then finance spokesperson Rob Lucas MP.
South Australian Division President Ben Yates said Mr Gannon was chosen after an extensive recruitment process from a strong field of candidates.
“The Property Council has a big agenda in South Australia and Daniel is the right person to lead the Property Council in this state,” Mr Yates said.
“He has the leadership, political and communication skills to deliver the property industry’s pro-growth agenda to policy makers, the media and the public.
“Daniel has strong political and corporate networks and his talent was recognised by his inclusion in the Adelaide Advertiser’s Top Rising Stars of 2013.
“He’s also got property in the blood, with a family that has built a successful South Australian construction company from the ground up.”
Mr Gannon said he was delighted to be appointed to represent an industry which has such an important role to play in securing the economic prosperity of South Australians.
“South Australia has great potential to grow and thrive, and the Property Council will play an important role in developing the right conditions to strengthen our state’s economy,” Mr Gannon said.
“With the mining boom winding down across the country, it will be the development and construction sectors that will do the heavy lifting of growing the state.
“South Australia needs to grow, and that means a bigger population and stronger economic growth. I look forward to working with the Government on these and other issues.”
Mr Gannon said the successful implementation of the major planning reforms proposed by the state’s Expert Panel on Planning Reform will be an early priority for him.
Mr Gannon will commence with the Property Council on 22 September 2014.
