Best of the best vie for national property awards

What do grandstands, office towers, ice rinks and law courts have in common?

They are all up for awards at the 2014 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards.

The Awards celebrate innovation and leading practice within Australia’s property development and investment industries.

“Our industry’s commitment to excellence and innovation is reconfirmed again this year, with 83 outstanding finalists vying for awards in 16 categories,” says Chief Commercial Officer of the Property Council of Australia, Nathan Paine.

“The industry has put forward some truly world-class projects, ranging from the grandstand at Royal Randwick racecourse to the soaring tower of Brookfield Place Perth, and from the Medibank Icehouse ice sports venue in Melbourne to the Queen Elizabeth II law courts in Brisbane,” Mr Paine adds.

All finalists are in the running for the industry’s most coveted prize – the Australian Development of the Year award. Four individuals have also been nominated for the Future Leader of the Year award.

Chairman of Rider Levett Bucknall (Oceania), Michael Kerr, says that the Innovation and Excellence Awards recognise exceptional world-class developments and professionals across the country, but also underscore the property industry’s central contribution to nation building.

“Our industry is building a better future for all Australians, and these projects provide a bricks-and-mortar demonstration of that commitment to excellence,” Mr Kerr says.

“Rider Levett Bucknall has proudly partnered with the Property Council of Australia to present this awards program since its inception in 1982. We look forward to recognising the best developments again in 2014,” Mr Kerr concludes.

National award winners will be announced at the 2014 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards Gala Dinner, to be held in Sydney on Saturday, 17 May.
