Women in Property Mentoring Program 2017
The West Australian property sector has come together for the third year to promote women in leadership roles.
The 2017 Women in Property mentoring program has come to a close as the industry reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality on company boards and the long term development of women’s careers.
“The program has grown significantly since its inception in 2015, with 17 mentors and mentees from WA’s property sector have embarking on the 5 month program,” Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said.
“The program focuses on women who are aspiring to senior leadership positions in the property sector and matches them with senior leaders within the industry.
“There are some incredibly capable women in senior roles in Western Australia’s property industry. However, the fact remains that on the CEO and General Manager-level, they are heavily underrepresented.”
“This program has helped the mentees prepare for and address professional challenges they face while helping raise the mentors’ awareness on how they, as leaders of this industry, can help change the culture.”
“This year’s program was a huge success, with both mentees and mentors taking away a wealth of learnings and applying them to their day to day roles.
“The Property Council and program provider Serendis have dedicated themselves to doing what it can to overcome the gender imbalance in the property industry and ensuring that the talents of women in property are recognised and rewarded equally to their male colleagues,” Mr Iacomella said.
