The Property Council of Australia has appointed Sally Capp to be its new Victorian Executive Director starting next month.
Ms Capp is currently Chief Operating Officer of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has extensive experience in executive roles in government and business. She was formerly Head of Markets, Victoria at KPMG; a member of the Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) Board; Agent-General in London for the Government of Victoria; and CEO of the Committee for Melbourne.
Property Council Chief Executive Ken Morrison said Ms Capp was the right leader to represent the industry in Victoria.
“Sally is a proven leader with deep experience and a passion for Victoria’s future,” Mr Morrison said.
“She will be an influential voice for an industry that underpins the state’s economy, its liveability and the aspirations of so many of its people.
“I am delighted to welcome Sally into the Property Council’s executive team.”
Ms Capp said it was an honour to represent an industry that had such an important influence on the state’s communities and economy.
“Property is more than just a great Australian passion, it touches the lives of every Victorian,” Ms Capp said.
“The property industry provides the homes where people live, the places they work, directly employs more than 270,000 Victorians, and shapes the very future of Melbourne and our regional cities.
“It is critical to Victoria’s future and has an important role to play in the public debates about managing a growing city, making housing affordable and keeping the economy strong.
“I look forward to working with policy makers to champion the prosperity, jobs and strong solutions this industry creates.”
Mr Morrison thanked Deputy Executive Director Asher Judah for managing the Victorian Division so capably during the interim period.
Ms Capp’s appointment follows the departure of Jennifer Cunich in May to become Chief Executive of the Institute of Architects.
Ms Capp will commence on 19 September.
