Retirement Living Council elects new president

  • August 29, 2017

The Retirement Living Council, the peak body for Australia’s retirement village sector, has elected Alison Quinn as its new President.

Ms Quinn is the Chief Executive Officer of RetireAustralia and is one of Australia’s most senior property executives, having held senior roles in the public and private sectors.

She succeeds outgoing president Derek McMillan, who has held the role since the formation of the Retirement Living Council in 2013.

“Australia is currently experiencing an unprecedented ageing of its population. Our main aim is to ensure our sector can grow quickly enough to meet the increased need for seniors housing and retirement villages over the next decade and beyond,” said Ms Quinn.

“We are working to achieve the necessary policy changes that allow Australian seniors to be able to access the equity they have in their family home and downsize without financial penalty.”

Ms Quinn paid tribute to her predecessor Derek McMillan for his work as the inaugural President of the Council.

“Derek has been at the forefront of our work of ensuring the proven benefits of retirement villages in extending the independence and wellbeing of their residents are recognised throughout the community.

The Retirement Living Council is the Property Council of Australia’s leadership group representing the retirement village sector.  Ms Quinn will represent the sector on the Property Council’s National Board.
