The Property Council welcomes Minister for Transport; Planning; Lands Rita Saffioti’s announcement that the WA Government has established a specialized team for the delivery of METRONET.
“Industry welcomes the multi-agency approach taken by the State Government while assembling the METORNET delivery team. This will ensure a multi-faceted approach with due diligence given to all aspects of the project, from funding to delivery,” Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said.
“Industry is pleased to see key priority projects announced by the State government which will enable industry to plan around such projects with greater certainty. This will spur investment and growth in the areas earmarked for Phase 1 of METRONET.
“However, there are still concerns in the industry about the provisioning of major infrastructure to support METRONET.
“The property industry must be assured that planning and infrastructure delivery will be done in an upfront and transparent manner with industry consultation at every step of the way.
“The Property Council also seeks clarification from the State Government as to how the METRONET team will work with Infrastructure WA, the independent infrastructure body, promised by the State government during the election campaign.
“The delivery of METRONET must align with the direction and vision of Infrastructure WA to ensure all infrastructure is delivered with a clear objective based on expert multi-faceted decision making,” Mr Iacomella said
