The Property Council of Australia is pleased to announce the election of a new President for the Victorian Division, Mr Phil Soumilas.

Mr Soumilas, a past President of the Property Council in Victoria, is a principal of Buildcom Australia with 35 years’ experience in the Victorian property industry. He is a former Managing Director of Knight Frank Victoria and General Manager – Commercial at MAB Corporation.

Victorian President of the Property Council, Phil Soumilas thanked members for their support and promised to work hard on the industry’s top priorities – tax relief, planning reform and championing diversity.

Mr Soumilas replaces Carolyn Viney, outgoing CEO of Grocon, who has held the role since 2015.

Victorian Acting Executive Director of the Property Council, Asher Judah thanked Ms Viney for her leadership through a pivotal time for the property industry in Victoria. “Carolyn’s presidency saw many complex challenges including the refresh of Plan Melbourne, months of debate and negotiation over the Port of Melbourne lease and the establishment of Infrastructure Victoria,” said Mr Judah.

“Under Carolyn’s leadership, the Property Council has developed a strong working relationship with the State Government, prioritising the promotion of the Division’s Policy Platform.”

Ms Viney will remain on the Property Council’s Victorian Division Council as Treasurer.

Roger Teale, Head of Business Development & Partnerships for Lendlease, will take on the role of Victorian Vice President, alongside the Division’s other Vice President, Christian Grahame, General Manager – Apartments for Mirvac.
