The Property Council of Australia congratulates the WA Labor Party on their historic election victory.
Property Council WA Executive Director, Lino Iacomella said the election result was emphatic and the property industry looks forward to working with the new McGowan Government on growing WA.
“The Property Council is very supportive of the new Government’s infrastructure planning objectives, which will be crucial in returning the state to growth. The Property Council has long supported Labor’s plans for an independent infrastructure body to plan and prioritize long-term infrastructure projects.
“The property industry welcomes the opportunities that Metronet in particular will offer the industry to deliver more housing around train stations.
“The Property Council is looking to the new Government to move quickly on its commitment to introduce community strata titles.
“The new Government’s commitment in the campaign to retain Development Assessment Panels is also strongly welcomed by industry.
“The Property Council encourages Mr McGowan’s government to work alongside industry on a range of challenges, including:
- achieving Perth’s 47% infill housing target;
- reform of state property taxes to make WA a more attractive place to invest;
- -overcoming local planning obstacles;
- agreement on infrastructure funding solutions that support development; and
- providing more housing diversity, particularly for WA seniors.
“We look forward to working with the State Government to create prosperity, jobs and strong WA communities,” Mr Iacomella said.
