Pacific Fair crowned Retail Property of the Year

  • September 14, 2017

Pacific Fair Shopping Centre has been awarded the Queensland retail sector’s most prestigious honour – taking out the 2016 Retail Property of the Year award – as well as excellence awards for design, food retailing, marketing and presentation.

The Property Council of Australia’s Queensland Retail Property of the Year Awards acknowledges the best in retail properties and precincts and celebrates the contribution of the industry to the broader community. The winners were announced at the annual Retail Awards Gala Dinner at Brisbane City Hall on Friday 2 September.

Queensland Executive Director of the Property Council, Chris Mountford, said that Pacific Fair Shopping Centre was a fitting winner of the Retail Property of the Year title.

“Pacific Fair’s clean sweep of the super/major centres size classification is testament to a consistent excellence across all aspects of retail property management,” Mr Mountford said.

The $670 million redevelopment of the centre, which commenced in January 2014, took out the Excellence in Design award in the Super/Major Regional Centres category.

“The judges felt that the design excelled at meeting the needs of the centre’s customers. The use of appropriate materials and colours along with the casual Gold Coast style indoor-outdoor ambience has created an exceptional retail experience,” Mr Mountford said.

Pacific Fair also took home an Excellence in Marketing award for their “Like Never Before” campaign in May which invited the community to experience the new fashion stores in their recently completed ‘Resort’ precinct.

“The judges were very impressed by the excellent sales and traffic results that the ‘Like Never Before’ campaign was able to generate and how well the campaign matched the centre’s projective positioning as the Best Fashion Centre in Australia.”

Pacific Fair’s ‘The Patio’ dining area was recognised as the best retail dining experience in Queensland, receiving the Excellence in Food Retailing award.

“The Patio’s impact is achieved through an imaginative and varied tenancy mix and a unique design style that capture the Gold Coast feel,” Mr Mountford said.

“The level of care taken by centre management in maintaining the property was also recognised with an Excellence in Presentation award.”

“Pacific Fair’s grand slam of all the award categories, and 2016 Retail Property of Year title, is an acknowledgment of the extraordinary work being undertaken by AMP Capital Shopping Centres in setting a new standard of retailing excellence.”

“Our congratulations go to all finalists and winners on their outstanding achievements and their commitment to advancing Queensland’s retail sector.”
