New leadership for Residential Development Council

Stockland Group Executive and CEO Residential, Andrew Whitson, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Property Council’s Residential Development Council.

The Residential Development Council is the sector’s leadership group and helps shape policy and advocacy priorities for the industry.

Mr Whitson leads Stockland’s national residential business, which is the largest in the country. His appointment follows a six-year term as Chair by Nigel Satterley AM, Chief Executive of the Satterley Property Group.

Mr Whitson said: “The time is ripe for meaningful reforms that can unlock housing supply, reduce the cost of new housing and boost housing affordability across the country.

“The industry’s leaders are keen to partner with policymakers across the political aisle on clear and practical policy solutions that can tilt the balance of affordability in favour of homebuyers.

“As our cities grow, we have the obligation to build a diverse range of new housing for our growing population, and create liveable and connected communities that are great places to live, work and play.”

The Property Council’s Chief of Policy and Housing, Glenn Byres, welcomed Mr Whitson’s appointment and paid tribute to Mr Satterley’s contribution.

“Nigel is one of the residential sector’s true leaders and served as a powerful voice for the industry at a time when housing affordability become a hot topic for politicians and the public,” Mr Byres said.
