INDUSTRY SHINES AT WA PROPERTY AWARDS

  • December 19, 2017

Floreat Forum has won the coveted MCS Security Shopping Centre of the Year Award, while Central Park at 152- 158 St George’s Terrace, has walked away with the Mizco Commercial Property of the Year Award, for the second year running, at the Property Council’s 2017 WA Property Awards.

The 2017 WA Property Awards celebrates the success of the WA retail and commercial property industry with a focus on marketing, management and innovation excellence.

Floreat Forum was awarded the coveted Shopping Centre of the Year Award for its excellence in marketing and centre management and took home the awards for Best Digital Initiative it its size category.

“In an extremely competitive market, Floreat Forum has led the way in producing engaging marketing campaigns that attract and retain customers,” Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said.

“In the past year Floreat Forum devised a strategy to relaunch its Outdoor Dining Precinct through an omni-channel marketing approach.  While embracing social media and the power of influencers, Floreat forum was able to increase foot traffic and create a contemporary brand for itself.

Waterford Plaza also took home a major award, winning Marketing Campaign of the Year for its community engagement project to reduce theft in the centre. The initiative included consultation with local elders and  introduced free food banks and community programs. Overall crime reduced by a staggering 99%.

Central Park at 152-158 St George’s Terrace took home the Mizco WA Commercial Property of the Year Award over 20,000sqm.

Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said: “Central Park was recognised for its ongoing vision to foster community engagement with tenants, charities, NGO’s and the greater community at large through an annual program of events.

Creating a positive impression across a diverse range of programs, Central Park hosted 43 charity, community and placemaking events in 2016/2017, which resulted in raising over $980,000 for the charities.

Central Park’s two major events – Step Up for MSWA and Central Park Plunge (CPP) collectively generated an outstanding amount of publicity and fundraising. A record 1,027 people conquered Step Up for MSWA, climbing Central Park’s 1,103 steps and raising over $248,000 for MSWA. CPP offers participants a unique experience to abseil from Central Park, the tallest building in Perth, raising an impressive $514,430 for four charities: Anglicare, Ronald McDonald House, Fiona Wood and Kids’ Camps.

The second major commercial award, the Energy-Tec WA Commercial Property of the Year- under 20,000sqm went to Parmelia House at 191 St George’s Terrace.

“The refurbishment of 191 St Georges Terrace has seen an industry leading solution applied to a 45-year-old asset to deliver an outstanding result to Hawaiian, its tenants and the wider community. This project proves that with a vision led approach, a thorough understanding of the market and a willingness to take a risk, that great outcomes are possible.

“Underpinning the outcome is Hawaiian’s vision of connecting places and people. Using this vision, the project has delivered a series of spaces that are perfectly aligned to meet the needs of the modern work place, all in a central CBD location,” Mr Iacomella said.

The Property Council would like to congratulate all winners and our event sponsors: MCS Security, Energy Tec, Mizco & event sponsor ISPT.
